Signs of Cockroaches

Cockroaches are mostly active at night and stay hidden in cracks and crevices during the day.Smell – established cockroach infestations produce an unpleasant smell which can linger. Droppings or smear marks – Cockroaches will produce small brown/black droppings in environments where water is scarce. Where there is a good water source smear marks may be seen.

Common cockroach species

There are a number of species of cockroach found in the uk are the Oriental cockroach and the German cockroach.

Oriental Cockroaches:

Dark brown to black insect which is much larger than the German Cockroaches – Brown coloured insect with two distinct dark striped bands behind the head. Prefer warmer, humid conditions and are excellent climbers. German Cockroaches have sticky pads on their feet and can climb smooth surfaces. An Adult cockroach is approximately 12 – 15mm in length

Will often frequent drains and emerge at night. Have a greater tolerance to cooler damp conditions they can be found outside in warmer weather Adult oriental cockroach is approximately 17 – 30mm in length.
